The story so far

De Havilland Canada built its reputation on aircraft that could operate where nothing else could — the Beaver, the Otter, the Twin Otter — rugged short-field designs that opened up the Canadian north and are still working around the world decades later.

The Dash 8 carried that philosophy into the airline world, and the Dash 8-400 remains the fastest turboprop airliner in service. The company was absorbed into Bombardier, then re-established under its own name in 2019 — a rare case of an aviation marque coming back from the dead.
