The story so far

Embraer was founded as a Brazilian state project in 1969 and privatised in 1994, and it grew by taking a market the giants ignored: jets carrying 70 to 150 people. Its E-Jets sold more than 1,700 and became the backbone of regional flying across the Americas and Europe.

The E2 generation added geared turbofans and a new wing, making it one of the most fuel-efficient small jets in the sky. Boeing agreed to buy the commercial division in 2019, then walked away during the pandemic, leaving Embraer independent, and still the only serious competitor to the duopoly below 150 seats.
